Production and Maintenance of City Spatial Data to the Cloud
Web based map services are very common nowadays. However, the services tend to be only for storing and
sharing spatial information.
The latest trend on IT is to make services Cloud based, which gives a lot of benefits to the cities. There’s no
need for local servers, no software to install, and the personnel can work from any location, any time.
Would it be possible to move the production and maintenance of the city spatial data to the Cloud? What
benefits would the cities get and how it would change the work processes?

Trimble Locus Cloud – for Managing Spatial Data in CloudTrimble Locus is now available in a cloud-based solution! This new, unique solution for managing municipal built environment information brings a new dimension to handling GIS data. With this solution it is possible to manage integrated spatial data and the city's main processes by using web browser. The high quality spatial data can be maintained in both 2D and 3D views enabling the cities to extend their base maps into 3D up-to-date city models. Data and models from different sources can be combined and used together, e.g. GIS, BIM, InfraBIM and Lidar data.
When city models are enriched by information about land parcels, buildings, infrastructure and even citizen and services, a complete Digital Twin of the city is created. All information is managed as logical objects and the maintenance of geospatial and attribute data is possible at the same time. |
